KeY wOrDs tHaT ReLaTe To My iNdEpEnDeNt StuDy...
...Gender...
Psychological and cultural aspects of behaviour associated with masculinity or femininity, acquired through socialisation, in accordance with the expectations of a particular society.
{somebody's sex: the sex of a person or organism, or of a whole category of people or organisms}
As the program I am looking at revovles around the world of women, geneder is one of the key words that has much rlation to my text
...Feminism...
This is political movement to advance the status of women by challenging values, social constructions and socioeconomic practices which disadvantage women and favour men.
{belief in women's rights: belief in the need to secure rights and opportunities for women equal to those of men, or a commitment to securing these}
Feminism also has alot to do with my program as it focuses on the movement of women and how and where such drastic movements may have lead them.
...Representation...
This is the process whereby the media construct versions of people, places and events in images, words or sound for transmission through media texts to an audience.
{the fact or right of being represented by somebody, especially of having a member in a legislature with power to vote or speak for an electorate}
This key word is also key to my study as I am focusing on the representation aspect of the program.
...Social realism...
A representation of characters and issues in film and television drama in such a way as to raise serious underlying social and political issues.
{the use of realistic portrayals of life in art or literature to make a social or political point}
This key word has alot to do with my independent study as it does cover many social and political aspects.
...Stereotype...
The social classification of a groupof prople by identifying common characteristics and universally applying them in an often oversimplified and generalised way, such that the classification represents value judgements and the assumptions about teh groups concerned.
{an oversimplified standardized image of a person or group}
The program strongly challenges stereotypes of women and how people may perceive them.
